Psidium cattleianum var. littorale

Yellow cherry guava

Small evergreen tree with oval, shiny dark green, leathery leaves. The yellow fruits are round and about 4 cm in size with persistent sepals at the end. They contain numerous hard seeds in soft, juicy pulp.

This evergreen guava has yellow fruits which can be eaten just as they are, like an apple. They have a rather unusual, pleasantly tart taste.

The rare cherry guavas are harvested for the shop and the kitchen. The small fresh fruits are particularly popular at tastings.
