Citrus latifolia

Persian lime/Tahiti lime

Evergreen shrub up to 6 metres in height with thorns and dark green, serrate leaves with winged leaf stalks. The flowers are white and borne in clusters in the leaf axils. The light, pale green pulp of this green-skinned citrus fruit is divided into up to 11 segments and has almost no seeds.

This lime is also known as Tahiti lime. It is larger and juicier than the key lime, but has a less strong taste. It is best suited for making juice and producing essential oils.

The lime is appropriately situated next to the grapefruit where it has already grown relatively large, but has not borne any fruit so far.
