Jasminum sambac

Arabian jasmine/Sambac jasmine

Upright or climbing shrub with thin, rounded oval to heart-shaped, smooth, dark green leaves. The white flowers with up to nine petals are arranged in mostly five-flowered inflorescences. The berry is spherical and magenta to black in colour.

The bewitching scent of Arabian jasmine is said to take away headaches and anxiety and to open the heart. In earlier times it was also used as an aphrodisiac. The scent is mainly sold and used in the form of an oil.

As soon as the jasmine is in flower it spreads its scent throughout the Tropenhaus.
